Professional Learning

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT

Experienced instructional specialists provide services in person with push-in co-teaching and mentoring. We also provide and during PLC to small groups such as grade level or content cohorts. Also, large group content sessions during professional learning opportunities such as school or District designated times. Our services help to increase the capacity of teachers and as a result improve student achievement.

Lesson Planning: 
Using the lesson cycle teachers use creative processes that allow them to unpack standards, synthesize their understanding of teaching content and pedagogy with the knowledge to be obtained by learners while utilizing the local and national curriculum.

Instructional Strategies (Teaching Beyond the Standards):  
Teachers are presented research based instructional strategies that include but are not limited to Thinking Maps.

Formative and Summative Assessments (Using Data to Inform and Improve Instruction): 
In a balanced assessment system, both summative and formative assessments are an integral part of information gathering. Depend too much on one or the other and the reality of student achievement in your classroom becomes unclear. Participants reflect on at their instructional practice while creating assessments that are authentic to the learning and drive effective instruction.

Classroom Management:
Participant will be given strategies to facilitate effective classroom management.

Project Based Learning:
Participants will receive clear and concise methods for incorporating project-based learning into their current practice.

STEM Integration:
Participants will receive clear and concise methods for incorporating STEM into their current practice.

Increasing Rigor:
Participants will receive clear and concise methods for increasing rigor, comprehension and critical thinking into their current practice.

Developing Effective PLCs:
Participants gain the tools to build professional learning communities that reflect on instructional practice, consider the effect instruction has on students, and implement insights gained from the community.

Implementing Campus-Based STEM Academies:
Participants work in teams to develop a STEM blueprint for their campus.

Other training - Competitive Robotics:
Participants receive guidance for implementing a competitive robotics program with their students.
