About USTEM

Our History

Urban STEM was founded by Dr. Monique Micheaux in 2008 to transform STEM education for students. Dr, Micheaux saw a need for developing highly qualified teachers and for supporting students’ learning with enrichment programs to put STEM into action. Today, Urban STEM provides professional development, student enrichment, competitive robotics and STEM summer camps to meet this need and grow the next generation of engineers, scientists and leaders.

Urban STEM serves students in the greater Houston region and teachers nationwide. Urban STEM is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of students in STEM and supporting teachers to make it possible.

Urban STEM is creating a world where all students, regardless of their race, zip-code, or socioeconomic background, have access to high quality STEM education and enrichment and have the opportunity to see their future in STEM fields.
